The Role

A fortune 500 American Chemical company is offering an exciting opportunity for a HR Specialist position for Japan. The HR organization is in the process of transforming to a leading-edge operating model. This role would be located in Japan within the “APAC HR Solutions” arm of this operating model. The HR Solutions organization will be responsible for the design and delivery of innovative solutions to all employees and leaders. HR Solutions roles will contain deep subject-matter expertise in order to consult on programs, processes and people. The top priority of HR Solutions is to deliver the best Employee Experience through exceptional delivery of a portfolio of solutions.

Accountabilities

  • Act as HR partner to build leadership capability - Serves as a coach to leaders regarding talent actions, decisions and conversations (e.g., succession planning, team development, organization design, key talent actions & decisions, etc.)
  • Connects, redirects and counsels leaders to a portfolio of HR solutions, partnering across the HR Solutions organization to support business needs
  • Ensures talent initiatives integrate with the broader HR Strategy, and enables the delivery of strategic and operational business plans to create a consistently best in class employee experience and generate business value
  • Knows key talent and supports the management of the business talent pipeline
  • Member of relevant business leadership teams
  • Understanding campus hiring needs of hiring managers and meeting those expectations during the recruiting process. Provide a selection of pre-screened and interviewed candidates to the hiring managers with diverse sourcing channels/strategies
  • Act as key contact between Talent Acquisition, hiring managers, vendors and applicants
  • Take the lead in this campus sourcing process and proactively provide solution and approach to select specific candidates
  • Ensure both Work Day and non-Work Day enabled flawless execution and problem solving of Talent Acquisition activities

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years’ work experiences in HR Partner role, or generalist role
  • Strong customer focus and employee experience mindset
  • Strong relationship, partnership and consultancy skills
  • Comfortable pushing difficult perspectives, challenging and influencing
  • Deep understanding of the organization climate and interventions that create great employee experience
  • Excellent written and verbal skills in Japanese and English
  • The role will report to APAC HR Solutions Talent Acquisition Team Leader, and will be dotted line to APAC HR Director for the HR Partner role.
