Responsibilities
- Provide supervision of staff in policy making, employee and labor management, employee conflict resolution, grievances, employee engagement, performance management, diversity & inclusion, investigations, and other employee relations matters etc.
- Proactively reduce Employee Relations related risk through risk assessments and actionable feedback.
- Analyze, diagnose, design, and revise employee policies, programs, and procedures to sustain a respectful, positive, safe, and healthy workplace for employees.
- Design, collect and analyze multiple levels of employee feedback, including staff engagement survey, to ensure healthy work relationships and a supportive atmosphere
- Design and conduct positive employee relations trainings for managers.
- Work hands on with employee relations cases, such as harassment and other misconducts, conflict resolutions, disciplinary actions, performance management, policy interpretation and investigations.
- Provide advice to supervisors throughout the organization on how to deal with employees, especially in extraordinary situations
- Manage labor relations directly
- Complete other HR activities as assigned and directed by Head of HR
- Manage budget within the section
Ideal Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least 10 years of experience in Human Resources with at least 5 years of managerial experience in Employee and Labor Relations role(s)
- Demonstrated understanding of Japanese employment laws and labor regulations
- Experience in policy development and implementation such as flexible work system, position management, evaluation, compensation, and benefits
- Experience in conducting investigations for HR issues with proven ability to work with confidential information hands on
- Experience in coaching senior leaders, managers, and HR professionals
- Ability to build a trusting relationship and transparent environment
- Capable of communicating difficult messages in a sensible and supportive manner.
- Strong written and verbal business communication skills both in Japanese and English; high quality document preparation, presentation, facilitation skills
- Experience working in an international setting with demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion
- Strong interpersonal skills and exceptional listening skills to be able to partner effectively and influence at all levels
