We are looking for a passionate and dynamic HR Business partner. This position will support the Japan Office in all HR matters to create positive employee experiences and strong employee engagement.

Reporting to the APAC Regional HR Director and to Japan Managing Director, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Support organizational change and key strategic goals, for example, providing advise on people implications of strategic decisions, and developing communication to facilitate change.
  • Advise business in organisation design to put the right talent in the right job. Activities include facilitating promotion discussions, talent management, succession planning and recruitment.
  • Provide expertise to drive market competitive compensation and benefits, including market salary benchmarking, thereafter, conducting salary and incentive review exercises.
  • Implement performance management processes, such as introducing performance management tools to managers, driving the completion of performance management exercise and coach leaders to identify performance issues.
  • Establish key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of HR programs and practices.
  • Foster team and leader effectiveness, including supporting the onboarding of leaders and coaching leaders to develop their team members.
  • Identify areas to drive employee retention and motivation through tangible and intangible rewards.
  • Foster learning and building capabilities, including working with Country MD, APAC HR and HQ to propose development programs suitable for Japan.
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures with reference to HQ and Japan labour regulations. Duties will include any other HR operational processes as required.

Ideal Skills & Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, business or related field or equivalent experience, and able to converse in both English and Japanese.
  • 4-6 years of HR experience required
  • Experience working at all levels of the company; executive to associate level
  • Experience in MNC environment, with experience supporting commercial organization.
  • Experience in working within a matrix reporting structure will be an added advantage
  • Strong understanding of local employment law and compliance
  • Business level English skills
  • Strength with Organizational Design, Compensation and Employee Relations
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks and be open to feedback.
