Our client is a leading American FMCG company. On their HR team, they are searching for a bilingual Payroll professional who can handle working with an outside vendor for a 400 person company. The next step in this position would be an HRBP position within the team. 


  • Preparing and executing monthly salary and annual (and ad-hoc) incentive bonus payments in payroll system
  • Coordinating payroll providers in executing monthly payroll salary calculation and payments 
  • Preparing HR reports required by local authorities, preparing and maintaining HR statistics reports
  • Work with outside vendors of employee benefits
  • Prepare legally required as well as requested documents for employees
  • Prepare payroll and payroll cost reports for accounting department and shared services
  • Monitor and manage vendor activities to ensure compliance with laws in Japan
  • Maintaining personnel files and other documents for legal purpose
  • Provide payroll reporting and analysis working with Finance team and assist internal and external audits
  • Coordinate with global team to ensure the journal of Expat payment as well as other accruals made properly and timely
  • Lead pension plan to ensure the funds provided by the company are up to date and provide educational training to the employees by working with external vendor
  • Participate in local compensation surveys
  • Identify and implement of process improvement by analysing data and current procedure
  • Being a liaison between global and local teams

Here is your background:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in payroll and social insurance process administration at global companies/fast paced environment
  • Experience of working with shared service team outside the country is preferable
  • Language: Japanese at advanced business level (reading, writing, speaking) English: Intermediate (reading and writing) or advanced business level (speaking), Willingness to learn English is a must.
  • Diligent, high integrity and attention to detail are must in managing monthly payroll cycle
  • Strong background of payroll and compensation is preferable
  • Experience in dealing with internal/external audit is preferable
  • Knowledge of TAX scheme and procedures for employees including expat assignments (outbound/inbound)
  • Knowledge of local payroll and tax principles and practices
  • Knowledge of accounting principle/practice related to employee payroll is a big plus
  • Knowledge of Japanese labor law and local social insurance scheme and procedure
