General Position Summary:
Demand planning manager role in an American company which deals with confectionery, food, beverage.

The Demand Planning Manager is responsible for the following:

Manage the demand planning process and lead the Demand Planning team in the production of a forecast of future demand, and to ensure that the output of this process is fully integrated into the overall IBP(integrated business planning) process.
Identify and implement new business processes and systems that ensure the highest possible forecast accuracy and lowest possible forecast bias, whilst minimizing the administration burden, both internal & external to the demand planning team.
Serve as the critical interface role between the commercial teams (Sales, Marketing and Category Development) and the Supply Chain and Finance teams in providing analysis and insight, and challenging assumptions and beliefs regarding historical and projected performance, so that we can balance supply and demand and ensure the delivery of the business’s financial targets.
Act as the IBP Process Lead for the country. Responsible for leading all aspects of implementing Integrated Business Planning (IBP) in the country.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead the review of the market demand plan that has been built from all inputs, identify differences, gain consensus, and the market leadership sign-off on the market demand plan through leading pre-demand review and demand reviews
SKU level rolling 24 month volume forecast prepared, through a combination of sales feedback, market analysis, and statistical modelling, update on a monthly basis.
Historical sales performance is analysed, assessing the impact of various sales and marketing plans such as new product introductions; price increases or decreases; product withdrawal or obsolescence, promotions and incentives with the demand plan modified accordingly.
Work with commercial teams to align on sales/marketing related building blocks
Partner with commercial teams to understand and challenge assumptions, and market drivers, identify market driven risks and opportunities
Documentation of the forecasting process, is maintained - including assumptions and clearly identifying how the forecast is prepared, reviewed and approved and who is involved.
Commercial stakeholders engaged in the analysis of business performance, to enable improved future decision making.
Maintenance of a grid that captures all of our sales marketing activity - 2 years of historical activity, 2 years of planned future activity.
Demand planning systems and tools, including master data are adequately maintained.
Serve as a single point of contact in the markets for all demand-supply imbalance issues
Supply Planning function has full visibility of future demand forecasts and any issues are resolved
Week-to-week variability in customer requirements; plant replenishment and inventory levels is managed through the effective operation of the weekly drumbeat process
Proactively work with markets to progress towards a demand driven supply chain
Ensure that appropriate measures for improving improve sales forecast error / bias and reducing forecast volatility are developed and implemented
Active contributions made to the continuous improvement of the overall IBP process.
Continuous improvement of the effectiveness and efficiency of the forecasting and demand planning process
Ensure appropriate level of engagement, involvement and understanding of those involved in the forecasting process.  Training and coaching provided where required.
Internal and external benchmarking is conducted, identifying opportunities to introduce best practice initiatives and sharing our experiences with our global colleagues.
Lead the demand review meeting with the preparation of decision making tools for the country leadership to achieve business GOAL.


Qualifications

Knowledge Requirements: 
Thorough understanding of statistical modeling and other mathematical concepts
Detailed understanding of the principles associated with Integrated Business Planning
Demonstrated broad business knowledge and experience
Advanced skills in Microsoft packages specifically Excel, PowerPoint.
Intimate knowledge and experience in operating with leading ERP systems such as APO, or equivalent and business intelligence tools
APICS or other forecasting certification preferred
Familiar with business planning process
 Skill Requirements 
Strong quantitative and analytical skills and aptitude
Exceptional commercial acumen
Good verbal /written communication skills in both Japanese and English
An ability to easily move from the detailed to the abstract
Advanced presentation skills
Proven ability to operate effectively at all levels of the organization and an ability to build strong, constructive relationships and positively influence a diverse stakeholder group.

Experience Requirements
Bachelor degree required preferably in related discipline.
7 plus years of equivalent experience in planning / business experience (Supply Chain must. Finance, Marketing, Sales, nice to have)
Significant FMCG experience including leading a team
Proven leadership of large scale organization transformation
