Sales Forecasts & OTB

  • Build sales projections for budgets & forecasts, and 3YPs from a business perspective for Retail and Merchandising, for discussion with APAC HQ, Japan GM and Finance
  • Develop OTB budgets based upon sales history & projections, and assortment (width, depth, collection), define investment by SKUs, insure Japan’s budgets and buy plans are executed in accordance to HQ and APAC strategies
  • Prepare analysis with insights from historical sales performance, sales trends and target financial KPIs by working closely with HQs and country planners, to facilitate future buys
  • Ensure merchandise appear in the right store at the right time and in the right quantities and assortment, involving planning stock levels and monitoring sales performance
  • Analyse and re-forecast businesses to flag risks and identify growth opportunities
  • Set up OTB procedures for Japan so that GM and buyers are clear of objectives and actions for their buys
  • Partner with Merchandising and Retail to lay out action plans for risks and opportunities identified

Core & Continuative Planning

  • Plan sales and forecasts appropriate inventory levels by SKU for core
  • Build planning modules (e.g. stock plans, SKU plans, store ranking/attributes & key demographics) that will help the team to plan, manage and analyse business
  • Manage core receipts and inventory against targeted months of supply objectives
  • Propose action plan to sustain sales trend and guarantee ideal stock cover (reorders/transfers/buys)

Business Analysis

  • Consolidate weekly/monthly sales analysis for APAC HQ
  • Regularly work with MD team to understand best sellers/slow movers, to anticipate consolidation strategies, allocation/reallocation, and replenishment
  • Analyse end of season markdowns and propose markdown strategies based on inventory and sales analysis by locations to ensure cohesive flow from one season to the next
  • Analyse intended orders and determine whether the orders are coherent to the business objectives
  • Harmonise report standards among APAC

Inventory Management

  • Anticipate shipments, receipting capacity, display, BOH (beginning on hand inventory) for Japan to minimise congestions, maximise sales opportunities, sell through, and margins by working closely with logistics
  • Perform effective inventory control, inventory management best practices


  • Be the key point of contact and the superuser for EPM project, including training and deployment
  • Ad hoc projects as assigned

  • Fluent in Japanese & English
  • Luxury Retail background preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Over 5 years' experience of Merchandising Planning
