General Description:

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, results-driven, analytical collaborator who can work effectively with local and global teams to build an accurate, timely, and healthy supply of inventory.

Effective day-to-day communication with internal and global cross-functional teams will be critical to success in this role, as the S&OP Manager will be responsible for connecting Japan team with the global S&OP process. The person in this role challenges and drives action through functional leadership and collaboration, rather than formal supervisory authority.


Detailed Description:

  • Lead the monthly Japan S&OP process, interacting with cross-functional teams on a regular basis to obtain the most current and accurate information and ensure alignment between the departments in order to achieve forecast accuracy  

  • Deliver the demand plan for SJP team and submit forecast to HQ as part of the Global Demand Review  

  • Identify and manage process improvements that maximize Japan inventory health at the local warehouse  

  • Lead the monthly Finance/Accounting process, working with accounting firm  

  • Manage the CS and Logistics team to make effective order processes, shipment arrangement, import/custom clearance and customer/consumer claims in case  


Work experience and other requirements:

  • Minimum of five (5) years related planning experience, including inventory management, supply/demand/production planning, data analysis, or S&OP management  

  • Strong Excel skills a must

  • Strong technical skills with experience using an ERP system; SAP experience is a plus  

  • Ability to analyze data and identify issues and opportunities that impact sales and supply chain needs  

  • Proficiency in forecasting and inventory planning terminology  

  • Strong collaboration and influence with leadership and key stakeholders  

  • Excellent communications skills, in written and oral, both in Japanese/English  

  • Ability to manage a large catalog of items with close attention to detail  

  • Openness and flexibility to tackle obstacles, setbacks and uncertainty  

  • Experience in retail or consumer-packaged goods industry preferred  

  • Experience in process improvement preferred  

  • Some domestic and international travel required (5-10%)
